Thought for the day! (Lives of the saints)

John Bunyan wrote prolifically, preached relevantly and lived bravely. He was imprisoned on more than one occasion at Bedford Goal. His ‘crime’ was being a Baptist and a preacher in days when Nonconformity was outlawed.
Did he drown in self pity? No. He acquainted himself the better with Jesus Christ. His “Pilgrim’s Progress” was not the only result – first was his own published story: “Grace abounding to the chief of sinners”, one of 60 published titles.
Like Paul, Bunyan in prison could say, “The things that have happened to me, have happened to advance the gospel”. Sweetness not bitterness resulted. Truth, not lies, triumphed.
