Luke 1:67-80

His tongue had been tied for months, but it wasn’t the sudden freedom that inspired him. No. Zechariah was “filled with the Holy Spirit” and the song flowed, replete with prophetic revelation.
The thrust of his prophecy is the fulfillment of God’s promises; with the dominant emotion of God’s mercy – “the mercy shown to our fathers” (v.72) and “the tender mercy of our God,” (v.78) “whereby the sunrise from on high has visited us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.”
And their newborn son, John,would be the “Elijah” of prophecy, the preparer of the way. And now the story will switch back to the One in whom salvation is centered, the Son carried by Elisabeth’s cousin, Mary……
