Thought for the day!

Jesus, in His peerless teaching, told His disciples to “seek”“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

What are “all these things” to which Jesus refers? They are the basics of everyday life, the worries of which result in anxiety (see verses 25-34). The worries which can overtake us: How will I pay the mortgage/rent? What about the future with a poor pension? How will I get my children through university? How will they get a mortgage? Will I have enough to live on?  What if I have an illness? (How different a list would this be in the developing world? E.g can I make the 20 mile round trip to gather water? Etc.)

Jesus tells us to prioritise our thinking, to seek God and His rule before everything else. God is a caring Father who provides what we need. We can trust Him.
So seek Him first.
