Thought for the day (lives of the saints)

Charles Spurgeon

In a short meditation , John Piper recalls the phenomenal output of Spurgeon and compares him to a mountain of God,not to be envied or imitated. “Mountains are to be marvelled at for the sake of their Maker.”
Spurgeon preached  and pastored the same church in London for 37 years, from 1854 to 1891. He died in 1892 at the age of 57. “His collected sermons fill 63 volumes equivalent to the 27 volume ninth edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica. They stand as the largest set of books by a single author in the history of Christianity. He read 6 serious books a week and could remember what was in them and where. He read Pilgrim’s Progress more than 100 times…… “
And there is a lot more to come.
